Welcome to 2025!! Glory to God- you have made it another year. As we step into a new calendar year we are reminded of the victories of 2024. We remember the trials, the losses, and the unexpected blows that brought us to recognition of God’s expression of His faithfulness. We remember the mercies of God and the grace He has given. We celebrate the accomplishments both small and big that gave us confidence to try again. The times are surely changing. There are so many new world events that it is difficult to stay abreast of them all. Days are flying by faster than ever before. There are so many uncertainties in our economy, in our political climate, in our relationships etc. There is one constant, however, that will never change. God is the same yesterday, today, and forevermore. He is consistent, reliable, faithful, true, constant, and dependable. Jesus has come that we can live an abundant life. It is time to look forward to what is to come. The new year is the perfect time to clean out your closets and to get rid of old things and make room for new things. Likewise, in our spiritual lives it is a perfect time to take assessment of what lies inside. What are some old things- bad habits, nonproductive tasks, ungodly relationships, that need to be cleaned out to make room for those things God would have you to fill your life. After you clean out the old things do not remanence on them. Don’t long for the old things but rather prepare for the new things. Isaiah 43:18 tells us to “remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old” the reason we should forget the former things is so that we can prepare for what’s next and not wrestle with what was. “Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth. Shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.” God is ready to bring you into the new era of your life. This is a time that stretches you into what God is calling you do. The new thing will be uncomfortable. But do not be afraid because God is with you. Get ready to shift into the new .
